I've built sms_client but when I run it it just seems to hang,what's going on?[A]. This is an extremely common problem related to libmodem-1.0.0When it tries to generate a lockfile it doesn't check that thedirectory into which it is trying to create the file exists. The fix is simple, find out what directory your system uses forlockfiles, this could be /var/lock under Debian Linux, edit thedial/modems.h.in file to reflect this, recompile libmodem, using'make clean ; make' run 'ldconfig' to update the shared librarycache and finally rebuild sms_client 'make clean ; make'[Q]. I Have a PageOne Minicall pager, how do I find out myPager ID?[A]. The number on the reverse of the pager is dialed to leave amessage with an operator. Your Pager ID is the last 6 digitsof this number.[Q]. Do I need any special hardware to send a messages to a mobile phone, must I connect my mobile to the computer somehow?[A]. No. SMS Client uses your modem to dial into a messages centrerun by your provider, this relays the message to the phone or pager.[Q]. I've noticed that there's code in the 'src' directory thatdoesn't get built when I 'make' why is that?[A]. The additional code is still in development.
