The above sentence contains two opposite statements and seems to beunreasonable. However,We can explain it as follows:The latter implies al evil friends who induce us to go astray and the former implies all good ones who lead us towards the right wa. My ideal friends are of course the good ones whose goodness is shown below: he has no bad habits, such as smoking or drinking. He lives in frugality. He studies diligently so as not to waste his golden time. At home he honours his parents and loves his brothers; at schools he venerates his teachers and sympathizes with his schoolmates. He treats those truly who are true to him.He never speaks of others' evils nor boasts of his own merits. In a word, all his characters are better than mine.I can follow him as a modil. By his precept I am persuaded to go the right way. By his warnings I am aware of the danger of doing a wrong thing. With his help I am free from al difficulties. Indeed,if I have such a person as my friend,I shall never fear any difficulties, and I shall never know the existence of the word "failure". By the word public duty I do not necessarily mean official duty, although it may include that. I mean simply that constant and active practical participation in the details of politics without which, upon the part of the most intelligent citizens, the conduct of public affairs and venal men. I mean that personal attention which, as it must be incessant, is often wearisome and even repulsive,to the details of politics, attendance at meetings, service upon communities, care and trouble, and expense of many kinds, patience endurance of rubuffs, chagrins, ridicules, disappointments, defeats-in a word all those duties and services which, when selfishly and meanly performed, stigmatize a man as a mere politician, but whose constanty, honorable, intelligent and vigilant performance is the gradual building, stone by stone, and layer by layer, of that great temple of self restrained liberty which all generous souls mean that out government shall be.Popular wisdom has traditionally held that women should be subordinate to men. Men are for public affairs, and women are for domestic affairs. Women who do not enjoy this domestic role are thought to be unusual or strange. The traditional role especially on the husband. Society still considers it perfectly reasonable for a women The estimates of numbers of home-schooled children vary widely.
