Simulator Task Division:

Andrew Brzezinski (brzezin@stanford.edu)

Channel Simulator (Block Fading Assumption), including Transmit Precoding and
Receiver Shaping

Performance Analysis of Adaptive Modulation applied to MIMO/OFDM Systems

Performance Analysis of Fixed OFDM Transmission for single antenna system

Prateek Bansal (prateek@stanford.edu)

Modulator/Demodulator(IFFT/FFT) Block and Cyclic Prefix Block for OFDM Transmitter
and Receiver

Performance Analysis of MIMO/OFDM System having selection diversity at the transmitter
and maximal ratio combining at the receiver

Performace Analysis of Adaptive Modulation applied to single antenna system

Project Update:

We have completed the literature survey and we have a basic outline of the simulator
structure.

(Dec 1) We have completed the single antenna
OFDM system with adaptive modulation. The following blocks are
part of the design:

Adaptive Bit Allocation

QAM Modulation (1, 2, 4, 16, 64, 256 QAM finite modulation order)

Circular Prefix and FFT

Channel Simulator

Remove Prefix and IFFT

Zero-forcing ML Decoding

(Dec 9) We have completed the MIMO OFDM system with adaptive modulation. This
includes

precoder

shaper

matrix channel formulation

a fully functional variable rate variable power modulator.

Further, we have implemented selection diversity at the transmitter, and fixed OFDM for comparison
purposes.

Weekly Goals:

Dec 2nd 2001: Have Implemented the Single Antenna System
Dec 9th 2001: Have Implemented the MIMO System
Dec 13th 2001: Completed Project Report

Proposed Extensions:

Analysis of Multiuser OFDM systems with single antennas.
