Other	speedups include unrolling loops, combining tables,precomputing shifts and	masks, and eliminating redundant initial andfinal permutations when	performing the 25 applications of modifiedDES that the password encryption algorithm uses. Bishops DESZIP.c does	all these things and also precomputes morefunctions yielding twice the performance of the	worms algorithm, butrequiring nearly 200KB of initialized data as opposed to the 6KBused by	the worm, and the less than 2KB	used by	the normal crypt().
