<h2 class="first-section-title"><a name="77"></a><a name="ch02lev1sec6"></a>Prototyping</h2><p class="first-para">At this stage, the development team usually has enough information to choose a user interface technology (which typically involves HTML because most applications are Web-compliant these days). A user interface enables the prototype to become a part of the real application and guards against accidentally promising delivery of something that isn't technically possible.</p>
<p class="para">
<b>Consider involving the layout designer in producing the prototype.</b> In fact, the layout designer should almost facilitate this particular exercise instead of the technical architect. I find that technicians usually don't make the most aesthetically pleasing user interface screens. I know I don't.</p>

<b>Remember that prototypes are not functional by definition.</b> None of the prototype screens should have dynamic data. If you are responsible for developing the prototype and are using HTML, I highly recommend <a href="LiB0017.html#81" target="_parent" class="chapterjump">Castro (2002)</a>.</p>
