This package provides SIMD-assisted Viterbi decoders for IA32 (intel
x86) machines with the MMX, SSE and SSE2 instruction sets. There is no
special support for AMD's 3D Now! set, but AMD does implement SSE
under the name "3D Now! Professional". (Oh, how easier everything would
be to understand without marketroids!)

See the simd-viterbi(3) manual page for details on how to use the
library routines. They are provided in four flavors: a non-SIMD
version for compatibility with non-IA32 machines and older IA32 CPUs
without SIMD support; and a separate version for MMX, SSE and SSE2.

Test routines with base names of "vtest27" and "vtest29" are provided
to exercise the various library routine versions. Four versions of each
test routine are compiled, one for each library.
