Includes is a tool that automates the maintence of makefiles by creating
a dependency list for object modules. Simply, it produces a list of all
files (.h or .inc or user specified extension, see below) included by the
source specified on the command line, and writes a line of the following
form to stdout:
foo.obj foo.lst: foo.c foo.h
Errors (included file not found, or included twice) are written to stdout,
and cause a non-zero exit code.
usage: includes <options> source_files
where source_files are .C or .ASM.
option meaning
-Dpath default search path for include file. Up to 30 paths can
be specified.
-Ipath search path for include file. Up to 30 paths can
be specified.
-i List include files from the default include directory.
This is /usr/include for Xenix and the directory specified
by the INCLUDE environment for DOS.
-lsuffix Replace the list file suffix with "suffix" in
dependency lines. Up to 3 suffixes can be specified.
For example,
includes -lv file.c
allows
file.obj file.lst: file.c depend1 depend2 ...
to become
file.obj file.v: file.c depend1 depend2 ...
The list suffix is defaulted to "lst". -l by itself
suppresses list file listing.
-ssuffix Replace the object file suffix with "suffix" in
dependency lines. Up to 3 suffixes can be specified.
For example,
includes -so file.c
allows
file.obj file.lst: file.c depend1 depend2 ...
to become
file.o file.lst: file.c depend1 depend2 ...
suffix is defaulted to "obj".
-s by itself is an error.
-Sprefix Prepend the following prefix to object files that
are output as targets. Up to 3 prefixes can be specified.
For example,
includes -S$(VER) *.c
allows
file.obj file.lst: file.c depend1 depend2 ...
to become
$(VER)/file.obj file.lst: file.c depend1 depend2 ...
No prefix is the default.
-Lprefix Prepend the following prefix to lst files that
are output as targets. Up to 3 prefixes can be specified.
For example,
includes -L$(VER) *.c
allows
file.obj file.lst: file.c depend1 depend2 ...
to become
file.obj $(VER)/file.lst: file.c depend1 depend2 ...
No prefix is the default.
-Psymbolic=string
Symbolic dependency. The allows makefiles to be
directed to a path at execution time, e.g.:
include -P$$(DOSROOT)=$(DOSROOT)
in a makefile, produces
file.obj: depend1 depend1 $(DOSROOT)\depend3
instead of
file.obj: depend1 depend2 ..\..\..\depend3
As many -P flags as desired can be used; substitutions will
be performed in the order specified on the command line.
-A=ext permit this user-defined extension of up to 3 characters
for asm included files
-C=ext permit this user-defined extension of up to 3 characters
for C included files
