Data Structures For Game Programmers
Ron Penton

A funny thing happened about 10 minutes before I was about to zip up and mail
the CD contents to my publisher; A brand new version of SDL was released, 1.2.5.
The book was developed using 1.2.2, and 1.2.4 came out in the middle of
production. I have recompiled everything and tested all the demos, and they all
work wonderfully with 1.2.4, but I don't have time to test out 1.2.5.
The book says that this directory should contain two subdirectories:
\Source Code\
\Development Libraries\
I have changed it so that the directory now looks like this:
\1.2.4\
\Source Code\
\Development Libraries\
\1.2.5\
\Source Code\
\Development Libraries\
So the two directories referenced in the book are now contained within the \1.2.4\
directory. I hope this isn't too confusing.
The installation instructions for either version of SDL are exactly the same,
so if you want to install 1.2.5 instead of 1.2.4, you should have no problems.
Since SDL is designed for complete backwards compatibility, you SHOULD have no
problems compiling the demos with this new version, but if you just want to
play it safe, you should install 1.2.4 instead.
Apparently 1.2.5 adds a bunch of minor fixes, and adds support for the Sega
Dreamcast! I don't know how that works, exactly, but it sure sounds cool!
