questions.

Installation Notes
==================
I. Help on Installation
-----------------------
Press F1 during installation for complete on-line help on the
installation process. You can also access on-line help prior to
installation by choosing the Help button on the Autorun screen
that appears when you insert the CD into the CD drive.
II. General
------------
PowerLogic 3.0 was developed for use on Windows 95, Windows 98, and
Windows NT 4.0.
PowerLogic 3.0 is available on CD only.
III. Using Multiple Versions of PowerLogic
------------------------------------------
PowerLogic 3.0 uses the same directory structure, executable name,
and .ini filename as previous versions of PowerLogic. To preserve
the integrity of an existing version of PowerLogic, including its
directory structure, you must make some system modifications before
installing version 3.0.
If you own a previous version of PowerLogic and want to
continue to use it, you can use the following methods to set up
multiple versions:
For PowerLogic 1.1 and 1.2
--------------------------
PADS recommends this method.
Before Installing New Versions
-------------------------------------------
1) In Windows Explorer, go to the \windows directory (for
Windows 95 or Windows 98) or the \winnt directory (for
Windows NT).
2) Move the powerlogic.ini file from this directory to the
\padspwr\powerlogic directory (or directory where your
PowerLogic 1.1 or PowerLogic 1.2 executable is located).
Installing PowerLogic 3.0
-------------------------
1) Install PowerLogic. When installing PowerLogic, you need to
specify the location into which to install PowerLogic. You
need to install the latest version of PowerLogic into a
directory different from the existing version of PowerLogic.
For example, if PowerLogic 1.1 is installed in c:\padspwr
(the default directory), then install PowerLogic 3.0 into a
different directory, such as c:\padspwr30.
NOTE: Do not use spaces in directory names.
2) When installing PowerLogic, you are prompted to select a
program group into which to install PowerLogic. Do not
install to the same program group you used for a previous
PowerLogic installation. For example, if PowerLogic 1.1 is
installed in PADS-PowerLogic, install PowerLogic 3.0 into
PowerLogic3.0.
Do not use a previous powerlogic.ini file with the latest
version of PowerLogic and vice-versa. The file structure has
changed. Using an older powerlogic.ini with the latest
PowerLogic version or the latest powerlogic.ini with a
previous PowerLogic version may cause system failure and
other anomalies.

Latest Advisories
=================
I. Last Minute Advisories
--------------------------
Advisories for PowerLogic are available in the Advisories On-line
Help file, advise.hlp. You can access this file from the PowerLogic
On-line Help or from the distribution CD. You can view them by
category. Advisories are also listed on the Technical Support
page of PADS' Web site. Advisories added after the software is
released to market are marked with an asterisk (*).
II. New PADS Libraries
----------------------
Updated PADS libraries are provided with PowerLogic 3.0. These
libraries are newer than those shipped with PowerPCB 2.x and
PowerLogic 1.x, and are designed to work with PowerLogic 3.0
& greater, PowerPCB 3.0 & greater, and PowerBGA 3.0 and greater.
The file extensions for these new libraries is different from
version 2.x libraries. The library names are now appended with the
number 3 (.pt3, .pd3, .ln3, .ld3).
Version 2.x or previous libraries are not compatible with
PowerLogic 3.0. PowerLogic 3.0 includes a converter that easily
upgrades your existing libraries to the new format. The new
libraries are not backward compatible. See the Library Converter
on-line help file, libconv.hlp, for more information.
III. Removal of Logic 4.0 ASCII Format
--------------------------------------
PowerLogic no longer saves PADS Logic 4.0 ASCII files.
PowerLogic no longer opens .sch files that were created
in versions prior to Logic 4.0. If you want to open a
.sch file created prior to Logic 4.0:
1) Load the .sch file into Logic 4.0.
2) Save the file in a Logic 4.0 .sch format.
3) Open the .sch file in PowerLogic 3.0.
If you want to translate data from PowerLogic 3.0 to Logic 4.0 you
must use PowerLogic 1.2 or earlier:
1) Export your design from PowerLogic 3.0 to a PowerLogic 1.2
ASCII format.
2) Import that ASCII file into PowerLogic 1.2 or 1.1.
3) Export to the Logic 4.0 ASCII format.
4) Import that ASCII file into Logic 4.0.
IV. Loading Older Databases
----------------------------
PowerLogic can open the following file types without conversion:
- Logic 4.0 .asc and .sch files
- PowerLogic 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2 .asc and .sch files
