<P> 一個國家的頂級域名，是這個國家互聯網發展的晴雨表，是信息化的重要指標。2005年，中國的CN域名蓬勃發展，CN域名注冊量超越百萬，在世界排名也從年初的第13位上升到目前的第6位。2005年，注冊CN域名成為互聯網發展的一大亮點。2006年，隨著互聯網的快速發展，中國CN域名相關法律環境、應用環境的改善，有理由相信<!--ADV_CONTENT-->，CN域名的發展將迎來又一高峰。
<P><STRONG> 政策支持，共襄百萬CN盛舉</STRONG>
<P> 作為我國的國家頂級域名，CN域名被喻為互聯網上的“中國標識”，我國政府對其發展一直給予高度重視。信息產業部多次強調，要加大國家頂級域名的推廣力度，增強國際競爭力。在2005年3月的兩會期間，全國人大代表和政協委員也紛紛呼吁我國網站，特別是關系到國計民生的重要網站，都應該從國家信息安全和經濟安全的高度，注冊、使用CN域名，并把CN域名作為網站的標識加以公布和宣傳，引導網民使用。
<P> 在政府的大力號召支持下，中國互聯網絡信息中心作為我國域名注冊管理機構，多管齊下，簡化了CN域名的注冊手續并在2005年將CN域名價格調至COM域名價格之下，大大提高了CN域名的競爭力，直接拉動CN域名的快速增長，成為CN域名突破百萬的重要因素之一。在信息產業部的統一領導和部署下，2005年，中國互聯網絡信息中心在全國完成四個CN域名頂級節點的升級部署，CN域名解析速度更快，安全更有保障，改善了我國互聯網絡基礎設施使用性能。
<P> 與此同時，政府機構還以實際行動注冊、啟用、推廣CN域名。繼全國人大網（www.npc.gov.cn或www.npc.cn）正式開通之后，中國中央政府門戶網（www.gov.cn）同樣以CN域名作為網站唯一標識；以新華網、人民網、光明網為代表的國家主流媒體網站，也紛紛啟用并大力推廣CN域名。事實證明，CN域名已成為我國政府、媒體、機構等重要網站的首選，這不僅標志著我國電子政務水平和社會信息化水平的提高，為我國互聯網信息安全建立了強大保障，更為國內掀起CN域名應用大潮起到了積極的示范作用。
