Installation in Kylix
=====================

1) Copy the Sources folder to a Linux
folder under your "home".

  For example, if you log as root:

  # cp sources/* /root/TeeChart

2) Compile the TeeChart packages

 It seems Kylix does not allow compiling
 packages that depend on other packages,
 all at the same time from the Kylix IDE.

 A workaround is to compile the TeeChart
 packages manually from a console window.

 
 Use the included KylixRecompile shell
 script gently provided by 

  Martin Kaul (mkaul@leuze.de)


 NOTE: 
 =====

  Before using the "KylixRecompile" script, 
  type this to convert from Windows to Linux
  end-of-line characters:

  "dos2unix KylixRecompile"


 ...or you can make a shell script to do
 the following:

 # source /root/kylix/bin/kylixpath
 # make -f Tee7K3.bpg

 (Where "root" is your login home folder)

 After compiling, you should copy the 
 output package files to Kylix folders,
 to make easier Kylix find them:

 # cp bpl*Tee7K3*.so /root/kylix/bin
 # cp dcl*Tee7K3*.so /root/kylix/bin
 # cp *.dcp /root/kylix/lib

 Important:
 Every time you want to recompile, it might
 be necessary to remove the TeeChart *.dcp files
 from Kylix lib folder:

 # rm /root/kylix/lib/Tee*.dcp

3) Run Kylix

 # startkylix  (or use the Gnome/KDE menu)

4) Install the packages

   Component->Install Packages->Add...

  Select and install the dclTee7K3.so,
  dclTeePro7K3.so and bplTeeImage7K3.so packages.


Compiling applications:
=======================

Kylix needs the correct path to find the
compiled units (*.dpu files), so it can
compile your projects.

Project->Options->Directories->Search Path


Known bugs and limitations:
===========================

**Missing or not fully implemented features:

-OpenGL (TChartOpenGL component not included)

-TChartWebSource (it does not load Charts from URL's)

-TQRChart (QuickReport chart control) is not included.

-Metafiles do not exist in Kylix in the same way as in Windows.

-Exporting to PNG, GIF, JPEG, PCX.

-The list of available printers is not supported in SuSE Linux.
 (The Workaround is to manually edit Linux's /etc/printcap file)

-TeeChart Font "Outlines" and "Inter-Char spacing"
 are not implemented.

-Rotation of text titles, axis labels, etc is not
 implemented correctly.

-Null field values in database DBCharts are not supported.

-The TeeChart Wizard (TeeExpForm.pas unit) is not supported.

**Things not found in Kylix CLX library that affect TeeChart Pro:

-Some component properties are not implemented in Kylix:
 AutoSize, DragCursor, DragKind, Locked, OnCanResize and
 all Docking related properties and events.

-QuickReport is not included in Kylix.  (No QRChart support).

-The PageControl component has no "TabPosition" property,
 so, the Chart Editor tabs cannot be positioned in a
 different orientation than at top.

-There's no way to discover if the system has a
 mouse wheel present. (TMouse.WheelPresent).

**Known bugs:
==============

-Some TeeChart Actions perform an endless loop
 (ie: ChartAction3D)

-Some property categories at Object Inspector display
 the full list of Chart properties (ie: Walls)

-The ColorGrid series do not paint the first row of
 points (top row).

-The rectangles around titles and legend miss one
 pixel at the bottom.

-Connecting a DBChart to a dataset in a DataModule
 is not possible at design-time.

-Setting a TeeCommander in vertical position do not
 paints totally correct.
