Lab 2 – Synthesizable MATLAB
This lab exercise will explore the effects that different MATLAB coding styles have on hardware. The lab has two parts, each of which begins with a short introduction. This lab exercise is based on the simple MATLAB FIR filter model shown below:
New users and old of optimization in MATLAB will find useful tips and tricks in this document, as well as examples one can use as templates for their own problems.
Use this tool by editing the file optimtips.m, then execute blocks of code in cell mode from the editor, or best, publish the file to HTML. Copy and paste also works of course.
Some readers may find this tool valuable if only for the function pleas - a partitioned least squares solver based on lsqnonlin.
This is a work in progress, as I fully expect to add new topics as I think of them or as suggestions are made. Suggestions for topics I ve missed are welcome, as are corrections of my probable numerous errors. The topics currently covered are listed below
我用matlab寫的一個corner detector, 效果比現在流行的harris,susan,CSS等效果要好。
Algorithm is derived from:
X.C. He and N.H.C. Yung, Curvature Scale Space Corner Detector with Adaptive Threshold and Dynamic Region of Support , Proceedings of the 17th International Conference on Pattern Recognition, 2:791-794, August 2004.
Improved algorithm has been included in A Corner Detector based on Global and Local Curvature Properties and submitted to Optical Engineering.
Summary: Simple face and eye detection
MATLAB Release: R13
Description: You can use this codes for face detection based on color segmentation and eye region detection.

This program is a new way to estimate the coherence function. It s based on the MVDR and is much more reliable than the classical Welch s method implemented in MATLAB.
There are 2 programs: the main program called coherence_MVDR.m and and an example, called illustrate.m, that calls the main function to show how it works. There also included 2 papers that we published on this algorithm.
This a GUI based system. The GUI is invoked from the command line by typing "ui_start". The GUI is self explanatory.
Tool tips are given in blue color. The cursor needs to be positioned on these for detailed explanation. The main file is
"runsim.m". In these simulations the SISO option is not explicitly given. This is because the SISO result for a particular
type of modulation is shown in every plot for purposes of comparison.
This software has been tested on MATLAB version 6.0 and above with signal processing and communication toolbox options.
The kernel-ica package is a Matlab program that implements the Kernel
ICA algorithm for independent component analysis (ICA). The Kernel ICA
algorithm is based on the minimization of a contrast function based on
kernel ideas. A contrast function measures the statistical dependence
between components, thus when applied to estimated components and
minimized over possible demixing matrices, components that are as
independent as possible are found.
