    The combinatorial core of the OVSF code assignment problem that arises in UMTS is to assign some nodes of a complete binary tree of height h (the code tree) to n simultaneous connections, such that no two assigned nodes (codes) are on the same root-to-leaf path. Each connection requires a code on a specified level. The code can change over time as long as it is still on the same level. We consider the one-step code assignment problem: Given an assignment, move the minimum number of codes to serve a new request. Minn and Siu proposed the so-called DCAalgorithm to solve the problem optimally. We show that DCA does not always return an optimal solution, and that the problem is NP-hard. We give an exact nO(h)-time algorithm, and a polynomial time greedy algorithm that achieves approximation ratio Θ(h). Finally, we consider the online code assignment problem for which we derive several results

    The driver supports both the 16F and 18F families. The trick is that the driver carefully emulates the hardware UART found in the PIC18F452 processor. This information has unfortunately misled some into thinking it does not work with the 16F family. During devlopment the driver was tested on a real PIC16F84A (as opposed to software emulation). To make sure nothing has been broken, I have just recompiled the code using SourceBoost 6.0 and it compiled without error.

This can basically be attributed to two developments:  Modern geometry acquisition devices, like laser scanners and MRT, easily produce raw polygonal meshes of ever growing complexity  Downstream applications like analysis tools (medical imaging), computer aided manufacturing, or numerical simulations all require high quality polygonal meshes as input. The need to bridge the gap between raw triangle soup data and high-quality polygon meshes has driven the research on ecient data structures and algorithms that directly operate on polygonal meshes rather than on a (most often not feasible) intermediate CAD representation.

    This application report discusses the design of non-invasive optical plethysmography also called as pulsoximeter using the MSP430FG437 Microcontroller (MCU). The pulsoximeter consists of a peripheral probe combined with the MCU displaying the oxygen saturation and pulse rate on a LCD glass. The same sensor is used for both heart-rate detection and pulsoximetering in this application. The probe is placed on a peripheral point of the body such as a finger tip, ear lobe or the nose. The probe includes two light emitting diodes (LEDs), one in the visible red spectrum (660nm) and the other in the infrared spectrum (940nm). The percentage of oxygen in the body is worked by measuring the intensity from each frequency of light after it transmits through the body and then calculating the ratio between these two intensities.

In our presentation, the vendors will show how they leverage JavaServerTM Faces technology in their products. While developing the presentation, I am learning some things about the work we’ve been doing on JavaServer Faces for the past three years. The vendors have their own set of concerns unique to adapting their product for JavaServer Faces, but they all voice one opinion loud and clear: they are very relieved to finally have a standard for web-based user interfaces.
