It uses for example harmless texts with a secret content, which is encoded using different but s imilar fonts for single letters or different spaces. <br/> The usage of computers opens new perspectives for steganography: Any data, texts, graphics or even executable programs can be "hidden" in other files, the so called </font><a href="#general_carrier">carrier files</a><font color="#000000">. The carr ier files are only slightly changed, so that the manipulation is not detected by viewing the file. These manipulated files can be transmitted and the hidden (encoded) data with them. Unauthorized users only see the carrier file, they neither see the data it carries nor the fact that it carries other data. That means: <br/> </font> <font color="#000000">1. The carrier files should not be well known in the public. E.g. the standard Windows wallpapers are absolutely unsuitable. <br/> 2. A carrier file should never be used more than once. The different data hidden in these files offers a very good way to compare t he and find characteristic differences that could help to find the hidden data. But it is quite save to send the same carrier file with the same content to various recipients. <br/> </font> <font color="#000000">The carrier files have to be large enough to take the data.
