MPI stands for the Message Passing Interface. Written by the MPI Forum (a large committee comprising of a cross-section between industry and research representatives), MPI is a standardized API typically used for parallel and/or distributed computing. The MPI standard is comprised of 2 documents: MPI-1 (published in 1994) and MPI-2 (published in 1996). MPI-2 is, for the most part, additions and extensions to the original MPI-1 specification.

The text of this tutorial is taken directly from WinPcap's Official tutorial but is modified to show the C# use of the SharpPcap library. All examples can be downloaded together with SharpPcap source code from SharpPcap 's homepage. The WinPcap library must be installed before attempting to run any of these examples, so please download and install the latest version from WinPcap's download page.
SharpPcap was written and tested using .NET v1.1 and Windows 2000/XP. I have no idea about other .NET and Windows versions. If you do try it, please report your results.

1. Obtaining the device list
This book was conceived in such a special way. From our experience, and despite the
increasing interest that we perceived amongst the research community in HAPS,
there was not any book in the market entirely devoted to HAPS. We could only find
some satellite communications books including only fragments related to HAPS,
covering the ‘generalities’. A need for a reference book which could highlight state-
of-the-art HAPS-related topics was therefore envisaged. Moreover, most of the
information related to HAPS could only be found in technical reports, Official
recommendations, conference proceedings and journal papers.
