The Joint Video Team (JVT) of ISO/IEC MPEG and ITU-T VCEG are finalising a new standard for the coding (compression) of natural video images. The new standard [1] will be known as H.264 and also MPEG-4 Part 10, “Advanced Video Coding”. The standard specifies two types of entropy coding: Context-based Adaptive Binary Arithmetic Coding (CABAC) and Variable-Length Coding (VLC). This document provides a short introduction to CABAC. Familiarity with the concept of Arithmetic Coding is assumed.

Universal Serial Bus (USB) is a communications architecture that gives a personal computer (PC) the ability to interconnect a variety of devices using a simple four- wire cable. The USB is actually a two-wire serial communication link that runs at either 1.5 or 12 megabits per second (mbs). USB protocols can configure devices at startup or when they are plugged in at run time. These devices are broken into various device classes. this a pack include source code for quartus 2. It is an implementation of the LC2. The LC-2 computer is described in Introduction to Computing Systems from Bits & Gates to C & Beyond by Yale Patt and Sanjay Patel, McGraw Hill, 2001. The LC2 model can be run as a simulation or downloaded to the UP3 in a larger model, TOP_LC2 that adds video output. Push buttons reset and single step the processor and a video output display of registers is generated. This state machine VHDL-based model of the LC-2 includes all source files. Currently compiled for a Cyclone EP1C6Q240 FPGA.

This a small hack I wrote to bypass the "No previous installation!" error of Microchip s C18 Upgrade. Simply run C18Fake and select your C18 installation directory (create if necessary) and click Save button. A "fake" file will now be created into that directory, and this will fool the Upgrade into thinking you already have a former legit installation. After that you run the C18 Upgrade setup and select the same directory you created/selected before. Your installation will now begin installing the full C18 package.
