<button id="8e2em"></button> This book is an introduction to Ada 95. It uses an example-driven approach which gradually develops small trivial programs into large case-study type programs. The main emphasis of this book is on maintenance problems, and using object-oriented technology to write maintainable, extensible programs. Program design is introduced throughout the book, with hypothetical maintenance scenarios used to shoe design shortcomings. and revise them to accomodate maintenance needs. Practical issues such as debugging programs are tackled, and important Ada features not found in other languages are dealt with practically and early on in the text. These include exception handling, user-defined types, procedures, functions, packages and child packages.

Watermarking schemes evaluation Abstract鈥擠igital watermarking has been presented as a solution to copy protection of multimedia objects and dozens of schemes and algorithms have been proposed. Two main problems seriously darken the future of this technology though. Firstly, the large number of attacks and weaknesses which appear as fast as new algorithms are proposed, emphasizes the limits of this technology and in particu-lar the fact that it may not match users expectations. Secondly, the requirements, tools and methodologies to assess the current technologies are almost non-existent. The lack of benchmarking of current algorithms is bla-tant. This confuses rights holders as well as software and hardware manufacturers and prevents them from using the solution appropriate to their needs. Indeed basing long-lived protection schemes on badly tested watermarking technology does not make sense.

As I write this foreword, I am collaborating with four leading user interface (UI) component vendors on a presentation for the 2004 JavaOneSM conference. In our presentation, the vendors will show how they leverage JavaServerTM Faces technology in their products. While developing the presentation, I am learning some things about the work we’ve been doing on JavaServer Faces for the past three years. The vendors have their own set of concerns unique to adapting their product for JavaServer Faces, but they all voice one opinion loud and clear: they are very relieved to finally have a standard for web-based user interfaces.
