Recent advances in experimental methods have resulted in the generation
of enormous volumes of data across the life sciences. Hence clustering and
classification techniques that were once predominantly the domain of ecologists
are now being used more widely. This book provides an overview of These
important data analysis methods, from long-established statistical methods
to more recent machine learning techniques. It aims to provide a framework
that will enable the reader to recognise the assumptions and constraints that
are implicit in all such techniques. Important generic issues are discussed first
and then the major families of algorithms are described. Throughout the focus
is on explanation and understanding and readers are directed to other resources
that provide additional mathematical rigour when it is required. Examples
taken from across the whole of biology, including bioinformatics, are provided
throughout the book to illustrate the key concepts and each technique’s
potential.
The MAX481E, MAX483E, MAX485E, MAX487E–MAX491E,
and MAX1487E are low-power transceivers for RS-485 and
RS-422 communications in harsh environments. Each driver
output and receiver input is protected against ±15kV electrostatic
discharge (ESD) shocks, without latchup. These parts
contain one driver and one receiver. The MAX483E,
MAX487E, MAX488E, and MAX489E feature reduced slewrate
drivers that minimize EMI and reduce reflections caused
by improperly terminated cables, thus allowing error-free
data transmission up to 250kbps. The driver slew rates of the
MAX481E, MAX485E, MAX490E, MAX491E, and MAX1487E
are not limited, allowing them to transmit up to 2.5Mbps.
The widespread use of embedded systems mandates the development of industrial software design methods, i.e. computer-aided design and engineering of embedded applications using formal models (frameworks) and standardized prefabricated components, much in the same way as in other mature areas of engineering such as mechanical engineering and electronics. These guidelines have been used to develop Component-based Design of Software for Embedded Systems (COMDES). The paper gives an overview of the COMDES framework, followed by a presentation of a generic component types, such as function blocks, activities and function units. The execution of function units is discussed in the context of a newly developed execution model, i.e. timed-multitasking, which has been extended to distributed embedded systems.
With the advent of multimedia, digital signal processing (DSP) of sound has emerged from the shadow of bandwidth-limited speech processing. Today, the main appli- cations of audio DSP are high quality audio coding and the digital generation and manipulation of music signals. They share common research topics including percep- tual measurement techniques and analysis/synthesis methods. Smaller but nonetheless very important topics are hearing aids using signal processing technology and hardware architectures for digital signal processing of audio. In all These areas the last decade has seen a significant amount of application oriented research.
Given Perl s natural fit for web applications development, it s no surprise that Perl is also a natural choice for web services development. It s the most popular web programming language, with strong implementations of both SOAP and XML-RPC, the leading ways to distribute applications using web services. But books on web services focus on writing These applications in Java or Visual Basic, leaving Perl programmers with few resources to get them started. "Programming Web Services with Perl" changes that, bringing Perl users all the information they need to create web services using their favorite language.

AR6001 WLAN Driver for SDIO installation Read Me
March 26,2007
(based on k14 fw1.1)
Windows CE Embedded CE 6.0 driver installation.
1. Unzip the installation file onto your system (called installation directory below)
2. Create an OS design or open an existing OS design in Platform Builder 6.0.
a. The OS must support the SD bus driver and have an SD Host Controller driver (add These from Catalog Items).
b. Run image size should be set to allow greater than 32MB.
3. a. From the Project menu select Add Existing Subproject...
b. select AR6K_DRV.pbxml
c. select open
This should create a subproject within your OS Design project for the AR6K_DRV driver.
4. Build the solution.
A few short years ago, the applications for
video were somewhat confined—analog was
used for broadcast and cable television, VCRs,
set-top boxes, televisions and camcorders.
Since then, there has been a tremendous and
rapid conversion to digital video, mostly based
on the MPEG-2 video compression standard.
Today, in addition to the legacy DV,
MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 audio and video com-
pression standards, there are three new high-
performance video compression standards.
These new video codecs offer much higher
video compression for a given level of video
quality.
Generating Fractals with SSE/SSE2
You probably have heard about fractals before. They are beautiful pictures such as the one shown above. Any fractal can be described using iterative formulas. So you can generate a fractal by evaluating These formulas and finding the color of each pixel. That is a large computational task, and drawing a fractal needs a fast CPU and a carefully optimized program.
The idea behind differential GPS is to remove as much errors as possible from the range measurements by establishing These errors at a reference site. In its most simple setup, a GPS receiver is located at a well surveyed position and its (pseudo) range measurements are compared with the actual calculated range from this receiver to the SV s. The differences between measured ranges and calculated ranges at the reference receiver are applied as corrections to the ranges measured by other receiver(s) close by.
