The exponential growth of flash memory has made this technology an indispensable part of hundreds of millions of electronic devices. Flash memory has several significant differences with volatile (RAM) memory and hard drive technologies which requires unique software drivers and file systems. This paper provides an overview of file systems for flash memory and focuses on the unique software requirements of flash memory devices.

MPEG TS Utils application provides the user with a visual representation of the multiplexed stream structure of MPEG-2 Transport Streams (ISO/IEC 13818-1). This application report describes the use of Timer_A3 to decode RC5 and SIRC TV IR remote control signals. The decoder described in this report is interrupt-driven and operates a background function using specific features the Timer_A3. Only a small portion of the MSP430 CPU?s nonreal-time resources is used. Specific hardware bit-latching capabilities of the Timer_A3 module are used for real-time decoding of the IR data signal, independent and asynchronous to the CPU. CPU activity and power consumption are kept to an absolute minimum level. The Timer_A3 decoder implementation also allows other tasks to occur simultaneously if required. We present a particle filter construction for a system that exhibits time-scale separation. The separation of time-scales allows two simplifications that we exploit: i) The use of the averaging principle for the dimensional reduction of the system needed to solve for each particle and ii) the factorization of the transition probability which allows the Rao-Blackwellization of the filtering step. Both simplifications can be implemented using the coarse projective integration framework. The resulting particle filter is faster and has smaller variance than the particle filter based on the original system. The convergence of the new particle filter to the analytical filter for the original system is proved and some numerical results are provided.
