Introduction
Some times it is required that we build a shared library (DLL) from an m-file. M-files are functions that are written in Matlab editor and can be used from Matlab command prompt. In m-files, we employ Matlab built-in functions or toolbox functions to compute something. In my past articles, I showed you some ways to use Matlab engine (vis. API, C++ class or Matlab engine API) for employing Matlab built-in functions, but what about functions that we develop? How can we use them in VC? Is there any interface? This article shows you an idea to employ your own Matlab functions.

You may have heard the Latest Brief web service on CodeProject.com. It provides several methods for web client programs to retrieve information about CodeProject.com, such as the latest article updates, the latest comments, and the latest lounge posts, etc. Some very popular articles on the CodeProject site make use of this service. In this article, I am going to present a java client program that uses soap message to call the methods of this web service. My program is not a general java soap client, which means you cannot use it to call other web services directly. However, you can easily modify it for other web services. The program uses only basic Java, it does not depend on any other external class library.

A few years ago I became interested in first person shooter games and in particular how the world levels are created and rendered in real time. At the same time I found myself in between jobs and so I embarked on an effort to learn about 3D rendering with the goal of creating my own 3D rendering engine. Since I am a developer and not an artist I didn’t have the skills to create my own models, levels, and textures. So I decided to attempt to write a rendering engine that would render existing game levels. I mainly used information and articles I found on the web about Quake 2, Half Life, WAD and BSP files. In particular I found the Michael Abrash articles that he wrote for Dr. Dobbs magazine while working at Id to be very illuminating.

Wireless technologies like GSM, UMTS, LTE, Wireless LAN and Bluetooth have
revolutionized the way we communicate by making services like telephony and Internet
access available anytime and from almost anywhere. Today, a great variety of technical
publications offer background information about these technologies but they all fall
short in one way or another. Books covering these technologies usually describe only
one of the systems in detail and are generally too complex as a first introduction. The
Internet is also a good source, but the articles one finds are usually too short and super-
ficial or only deal with a specific mechanism of one of the systems. For this reason, it
was difficult for me to recommend a single publication to students in my telecommunication
classes, which I have been teaching in addition to my work in the wireless telecommunication
industry. This book aims to change this.
