激光雷達（Lidar light detection and ranging，光探測和測距的縮寫）是利用激光作為探測源的1種探測雷達。與常見的微波雷達所采用的波源微波相比，激光具有單色性好、相干性強、方向性好的特點，而且光波的工作波長與微波相比小3~5個數量級，因而激光雷達有極高的時空分辨力和抗干擾能力。因此，激光雷達在測距、制導、導航、測繪和大氣遙感、大氣探測等軍用、民用領域有非常廣闊的發展前景1-1由于激光雷達的波源是激光，所以其回波信號的接收是1個光電轉換的過程。激光雷達工作過程中激光源與探測目標、大氣的相互作用以散射和吸收為主，十幾公里外的回波多則十幾少則幾個光子，信號非常弱，因此激光雷達微弱信號檢測、放大技術是激光雷達的關鍵技術之.。目前，國內外在激光雷達信號前置放大領域的研究不多，往往是直接應用市場成品于不同的激光雷達，實際使用效果有好有壞。國外研制PMT前置放大器的公司有EMI，PHIL IPS SCIEN-TIFIC等公司，然而，不同的激光雷達，其回波信號和系統參數往往不一樣，因此有必要根據實際的激光雷達系統參數對其前置放大器進行優化設計，這樣才能更好的對激光雷達信號進行檢測放大。
