GPRS(General packet Radio Service)是通用分組無線業務的簡稱。GPRS是GSM Phase2.1規范實現的內容之一，能提供比現有GSM網9.6kbit/s更高的數據率。GPRS采用與GSM 相同的頻段、頻帶寬度、突發結構、無線調制標準、跳頻規則以及相同的TDMA幀結構。因此，在GSM系統的基礎上構建GPRS系統時，GSM系統中的絕大部分部件都不需要作硬件改動，只需作軟件升級。
