Point RTOS 主要是一個針對小系統開發而設計的實時操作系統。 目前，Point RTOS 僅提供對51系列及其擴展系統單片機的支持， 針對51內核函數不能重入以及51單片機的內存空間管理方式等因素， RTOS放棄了搶先式內核的調度，而使用了時間片的調度方式，除非任務主動放棄， 否則任務將獨占CPU一直運行，因而任務中必須完成對本次操作的時間片設置，即等時間的設置。
