The Philips family of Multiplexers and Switches consists of bi-directional translating switches controlled via the I2C or SMBus to fan out an upstream SCL/SDA pair to 2, 4 or 8 downstream channels of SCx/SDx pairs. The Multiplexers allow only one downstream channel to be selected at a time, while the Switches allow any individual downstream channel or combination of downstream channels to be selected, depending on the content of the programmable control register. Once one or several channels have been selected, the device acts as a wire, allowing the master on the upstream channel to send commands to devices on all the active downstream channels, and devices on the active downstream channels to communicate with each other and the master. External pull-up resistors are used to pull each individual channel up to the desired voltage level. Combined interrupt output and hardware reset input are device options that are featured.

The SL74HC573 is identical in pinout to the LS/ALS573. The device inputs are compatible with standard CMOS outputs with pullup resistors, they are compatible with LS/ALSTTL outputs. These latches appear transparent to data (i.e., the outputs change asynchronously) when Latch Enable is high. When Latch Enable goes low, data meeting the setup and hold time becomes latched.

Video-DVM is a very cheap DVM that shows how an output as complex as a videocomposite signal can be generated entirely in software: two I/O pins and three resistors are all the hardware required. The AZ1117 is a series of low dropout three-terminal regulators with a dropout of 1.15V at 1A output current. The AZ1117 series provides current limiting and thermal shutdown. Its circuit includes a trimmed bandgap reference to assure output voltage accuracy to be within 1% for 1.5V, 1.8V, 2.5V, 2.85V, 3.3V, 5.0V and adjustable versions or 2% for 1.2V version. Current limit is trimmed to ensure specified output current and controlled short-circuit current. On-chip thermal shutdown provides protection against any combination of overload and ambient temperature that would create excessive junction temperature. The AZ1117 has an adjustable version, that can provide the output voltage from 1.25V to 12V with only 2 external resistors.

Wherever possible the overall technique used for this series will be "definition by example" withgeneric formulae included for use in other applications. To make stability analysis easy we will usemore than one tool from our toolbox with data sheet information, tricks, rules-of-thumb, SPICESimulation, and real-world testing all accelerating our design of stable operational amplifier (op amp)circuits. These tools are specifically targeted at voltage feedback op amps with unity-gain bandwidths<20 MHz, although many of the techniques are applicable to any voltage feedback op amp. 20 MHz ischosen because as we increase to higher bandwidth circuits there are other major factors in closing theloop: such as parasitic capacitances on PCBs, parasitic inductances in capacitors, parasitic inductancesand capacitances in resistors, etc. Most of the rules-of-thumb and techniques were developed not justfrom theory but from the actual building of real-world circuits with op amps <20 MHz.
