Included are the files wav1.m, wav2.m, wavecoef.mat and readme. wav2 function implements the tree structured wavelet transform of the input matrix, up to the given level of decomposition. Wav2 uses another function called wav1, which takes the well known wavelet transform of the given matrix. Daubechies wavelet coefficients are used for wavelet transform operation wahich is saved in wavcoeff.mat.

Many applications use connection/object pool. A program may require a IMAP connection pool and LDAP connection pool. One could easily implement a IMAP connection pool, then take the existing code and implement a LDAP connection pool. The program grows, and now there is a need for a pool of threads. So just take the IMAP connection pool and convert that to a pool of threads (Copy, paste, find, replace????). Need to make some changes to the pool implementation? Not a very easy task, since the code has been duplicated in many places. Re-inventing source code is not an intelligent approach in an object oriented environment which encourages re-usability. It seems to make more sense to implement a pool that can contain any arbitrary type rather than duplicating code. How does one do that? The answer is to use type parameterization, more commonly referred to as templates.

Error on broken images are now better handled using new exception classes. The images may be saved using interlaced mode also. Transparency information won t be discarted after the image is loaded any more. Most of the images are decoded much faster now. The images will be better encoded using fresh new algorithms. IMPORTANT! Now transparency information is used to display images.

DVBstream is based on the ts-rtp package available at http://www.linuxtv.org. It broadcasts a (subset of a) DVB transport stream over a LAN using the rtp protocol. There were a couple of small bugs in the original ts-rtp application, which I have fixed here.

The Viterbi algorithm is the same as the binary case with one main difference: The survivor sequences include the uncoded bits, which are decided at each trellis stage when selecting one of two parallel branches with the largest correlation metric. Presently, only 8-PSK modulation is considered. Extensions to higher-order modulations can be implemented following a similar procedure.

This file contains a new and improved version of the Huffman coder, (June 29. 2001). The name is Huff06.m. There are also some additional files which are helpful when using Matlab for data compression: quantizer, different variants of run-length-encoding and end-of-block coding in Mat2Vec, and a program which do JPEG-like entropy coding. A complete compression example is shown in TestMat2Vec.m. This file is all you need for Huffman coding in MatLab.

This a set of notes I put together for my Computer Architecture class in 1990. Students had a project in which they had to model a microprocessor architecture of their choice. They used these notes to learn VHDL. The notes cover the VHDL-87 version of the language. Not all of the language is covered (about 95%). You may use this booklet for your own personal learning purposes. You may not use it for profit (eg, selling copies of it, using it in a course for which people pay, etc).
