MPEG-2壓縮編碼技術原理應用 MPEG是運動圖像專家組(Moving Picture Experts Group)的簡稱，其實質上的名稱為國際標準化組織（ISO）和國際電工委員會（IEC）聯合技術委員會（JTC）1的第29 分委員會的第11工作組，即ISO/IEC JTC1/SC29/WG11，成立于1988年。其任務是制定世界通用的視音頻編碼標準。因為，廣播電視數字化所產生的海量數據對存儲容量、傳輸帶寬、處理能力及頻譜資源利用率提出了不切合實際的要求，使數字化難以實現。為此，該專家組基于幀內圖像相鄰像素間及相鄰行間的空間相關性和相鄰幀間運動圖像的時間相關性，采用壓縮編碼技術，將那些對人眼視覺圖像和人耳聽覺聲音不太重要的東西及冗余成分拋棄，從而縮減了存儲、傳輸和處理的數據量，提高了頻譜資源利用率，制定了如表1所示的一系列MPEG標準,使數字化正在變為現實。其中，MPEG-2是一組用于視音頻壓縮編碼及其數據流格式的國際標準。它定義了編解碼技術及數據流的傳輸協議；制定了MPEG-2解碼器之間的共同標準（MPEG-2編碼器之間尚無共同標準）。本文以MPEG-2的系統、MPEG-2的編碼、及MPEG-2的應用為題，討論MPEG-2壓縮編碼技術。

H.264/AVC, the result of the collaboration between the ISO/IEC Moving Picture Experts Group and the ITU-T Video Coding Experts Group, is the latest standard for video coding. The goals of this standardization effort were enhanced compression efficiency, network friendly video representation for interactive (video telephony) and non-interactive applications (broadcast, streaming, storage, video on demand). H.264/AVC provides gains in compression efficiency of up to 50％ over a wide range of bit rates and video resolutions compared to previous standards. Compared to previous standards, the decoder complexity is about four times that of MPEG-2 and two times that of MPEG-4 Visual Simple Profile. This paper provides an overview of the new tools, features and complexity of H.264/AVC.

JPEG2000是由ISO/ITU-T組織下的IEC JTC1/SC29/WG1小組制定的下一代靜止圖像壓縮標準.與JPEG(Joint Photographic Experts Group)相比,JPEG2000能夠提供更好的數據壓縮比,并且提供了一些JPEG所不具有的功能[1].JPEG2000具有的多種特性使得它具有廣泛的應用前景.但是,JPEG2000是一個復雜編碼系統,目前為止的軟件實現方案的執行時間和所需的存儲量較大,若想將JPEG2000應用于實際中,有著較大的困難,而用硬件電路實現JPEG2000或者其中的某些模塊,必然能夠減少JPEG200的執行時間,因而具有重要的意義.本文首先簡單介紹了JPEG2000這一新的靜止圖像壓縮標準,然后對算術編碼的原理及實現算法進行了深入的研究,并重點探討了JPEG2000中算術編碼的硬件實現問題,給出了一種硬件最優化的算術編碼實現方案.最后使用硬件描述語言(Very High Speed Integrated Circuit Hardware Description Language,VHDL)在寄存器傳輸級(Register Transfer Level,RTL描述了該硬件最優化的算術編碼實現方案,并以Altera 20K200E FPGA為基礎,在Active-HDL環境中進行了功能仿真,在Quartus Ⅱ集成開發環境下完成了綜合以及后仿真,綜合得到的最高工作時鐘頻率達45.81MHz.在相同的輸入條件下,輸出結果表明,本文設計的硬件算術編碼器與實現JPEG2000的軟件:Jasper[2]中的算術編碼模塊相比,處理時間縮短了30﹪左右.因而本文的研究對于JPEG2000應用于數字監控系統等實際應用有著重要的意義.
