Methods for designing a maintenance simulation training system for certain kind of radio are introduced. Fault modeling method is used to establish the fault database. The system sets up some typical Failures， follow the prompts trainers can locate the fault source and confirm the type to accomplish corresponding fault maintenance training. A training evaluation means is given to examining and evaluating the training performance. The system intuitively and vividly shows the fault maintenance process， it can not only be used in teaching， but also in daily maintenance training to efficiently improve the maintenance operation level. Graphical programming language LabVIEW is used to develop the system platform.

A problem is that while everyone agrees thatworking switching regulators are a good thing, everyonealso agrees that they are difficult to get working. Switchingregulators, with their high efficiency and small size, areincreasingly desirable as overall package sizes shrink.Unfortunately, switching regulators are also one of themost difficult linear circuits to design. Mysterious modes,sudden, seemingly inexplicable Failures, peculiar regulationcharacteristics and just plain explosions are commonoccurrences. Diodes conduct the wrong way. Things gethot that shouldn’t. Capacitors act like resistors, fusesdon’t blow and transistors do. The output is at ground, andthe ground terminal shows volts of noise.

The STWD100 watchdog timer circuits are self-contained devices which prevent systemFailures that are caused by certain types of hardware errors (non-responding peripherals,bus contention, etc.) or software errors (bad code jump, code stuck in loop, etc.).The STWD100 watchdog timer has an input, WDI, and an output, WDO (see Figure 2). Theinput is used to clear the internal watchdog timer periodically within the specified timeoutperiod, twd (see Section 3: Watchdog timing). While the system is operating correctly, itperiodically toggles the watchdog input, WDI. If the system fails, the watchdog timer is notreset, a system alert is generated and the watchdog output, WDO, is asserted (seeSection 3: Watchdog timing).The STWD100 circuit also has an enable pin, EN (see Figure 2), which can enable ordisable the watchdog functionality. The EN pin is connected to the internal pull-downresistor. The device is enabled if the EN pin is left floating.

Having dealt with in-depth analysis of SS#7, GSM and GPRS networks I started to monitor UTRAN interfaces approximately four years ago. Monitoring interfaces means decoding the data captured on the links and analysing how the different data segments and messages are related to each other. In general I wanted to trace all messages belonging to a single call to prove if the network elements and protocol entities involved worked fine or if there had been Failures or if any kind of suspicious events had influenced the normal call proceeding or the call’s quality of service. Cases showing normal network behaviour have been documented in Kreher and Ruedebusch (UMTS Signaling. John Wiley & Sons, Ltd, 2005), which provides examples for technical experts investigating call flows and network procedures.

The PW2601 is a charger front-end integrated circuit designed to provide protection to Li-ionbatteries from Failures of charging circuitry. The device monitors the input voltage, battery voltageand the charging current to make sure all three parameters are operated in normal range. Thedevice will switch off internal MOSFET to disconnect IN to OUT to protect load when any of inputvoltage, output current exceeds the threshold. The Over temperature protection (OTP) functionmonitors chip temperature to protect the device.
