考慮L的三個不同值：L＝256（3個數據段），L＝128(7個數據段)和L=64（15個數據段）。各自的譜估計圖如上圖所示。可以明顯的看到，加窗明顯的減小了頻譜上的假譜峰，但也更加進一步平滑了譜峰。所以，對于L＝64的情況，在ω＝0.8π的譜線可以很確定的辨認，但是那兩個靠近的譜峰不容易區分。對于L＝128的情況，這種情況提供了在分離和檢測間最好的均衡。當然，對于在L＝256時的情況，效果是更好的，能夠從譜估計圖上明顯的分辨出三條譜線的存在以及它們幅度關系的強弱。 除了Welch法外，還可以采用對多個周期圖求平均的功率譜估計方法的其他方法如Bartlett法等等，在功率譜估計上也能取得較好的結果。
