The Little Green BATS is the first and so far only Dutch team in the 3D simulation league. We are a group of graduate students from the department of AI at the University of Groningen, The Netherlands. Our team name is derived from the fact that the first 3D agents in the league were balls and from the very philosophical observation that Balls Are Truly Spheres (BATS). This abbreviation reminded us of our favorite song Little Green Bag by The George Baker Selection and so the whole team name was born. We entered the competition for the first time at the 10th edition of RoboCup at Bremen, Germany. unfortunately our hard work didn t pay off that time: already in the second round we got eliminated. However, after this we had a good base to build upon and the good time we had at the event and the nice community inspired us to continue and work hard for another year. This turned out to be defiantly worth it, because in 2007 in Atlanta we managed to become vice world champions!

In particular, particle swarm optimization, also commonly known as PSO, mimics the behavior of a swarm of insects or a school of fish. If one of the particle discovers a good path to food the rest of the swarm will be able to follow instantly even if they are far away in the swarm. Swarm behavior is modeled by particles in multidimensional space that have two characteristics: a position and a velocity. These particles wander around the hyperspace and remember the best position that they have discovered. They communicate good positions to each other and adjust their own position and velocity based on these good positions.

this directory contains the following: * The acdc algorithm for finding the approximate general (non-orthogonal) joint diagonalizer (in the direct Least Squares sense) of a set of Hermitian matrices. [acdc.m] * The acdc algorithm for finding the same for a set of Symmetric matrices. This a simple database management system. It doesn t use any other code (i.e. ODBC, ADO, etc.) and has it s own database file format. I wrote it because I found the other DBMSs code too bulky and hard to debug. It s designed for small applications and I doubt it could handle anything on a large scale. A sample program included in the .zip shows how everything works. The database project is a library project, so you ll have to compile and link with the .lib file to get everything working. Pros: - You have the source code so you know exactly what it is doing - Database files are very small - Small and fast code Cons: - Can t handle large amounts of records (more than 65000ish) - Doesn t support SQL (you have to search the database by cycling through the records and testing them against your constraints) - Each database file can only have one table.
