The J2000 codec was written in an effort to produce the cleanest and simplest implementation possible of the JPEG-2000 standard. We have put a particular emphasis on good architecture design and code simplicity, while at the same time Providing an implementation as complete and efficient as possible. The source code for the codec is freely available for anyone to study or even for use in commercial programs. We hope that our open development process and our focus on clean, straightforward code will help make the J2000 codec become a reference implementation of the JPEG-2000 standard
In this edition, the majority of the book is dedicated to covering the Winsock API. Chapter 1 starts with an introduction to Winsock and is specifically geared for the beginning Winsock programmer. This chapter covers all the basics and introduces Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and User Datagram Protocol (UDP) through simple samples, as well as Providing a roadmap to advanced Winsock topics covered in other chapters. For the sake of simplicity, Chapter 1 covers the IPv4 protocol.
With the release of PHP 5 web developers need a guide to developing with PHP 5 to both learn its complex new features and more fully implement the long-standing features on which PHP s success is built. PHP 5 in Practice is a reference guide that provides developers with easy-to-use and easily extensible code to solve common PHP problems. It focuses on Providing real code solutions to problems, allowing the reader to learn by seeing exactly what is happening behind the scenes to get your solution. Because a real-life situation will rarely match the book s example problems precisely, PHP 5 in Practice explains the solution well enough that you will understand it and can learn how to truly solve your own problem.
Many programs today suffer from the fact that their users have to connect using IP addresses. This is impossible for dialup users, whose IPs change all the time, and painful for LAN users who don t know their IP addresses or whose addresses also change. In addition, many collaborative programs could benefit from offering friends lists, showing friends as online or offline, Providing status information. This kind of functionality is hard to provide, requiring a dedicated Internet database and a new client - client protocol. But it is offered today through a system called AwareNet, which is offered free of charge and royalty
Organized in a practical problem-and-solution format, More Exceptional C++ picks up where the widely acclaimed Exceptional C++ leaves off, Providing successful strategies for solving real-world problems in C++. Drawing from years of in-the-trenches experience, Herb Sutter provides tested techniques and practical solutions for programmers designing modern software systems with C++, from small projects to enterprise applications.

Abstract
The Lucene Server project is an attempt to extend the Jakarta Lucene tool with server capabilities.
Lucene is a robust Java API that enables you creating indexes from text sources and perform powerful searches on these indexes. With Lucene, creating an index must be done programmatically and there are almost no possibilities of integrating index management in a distributed environment. In other words, out of the box, Lucene is suitable for integrating indexing and searching possibilities in a single application but not for Providing index/search services for multiple applications.
The Lucene Server project comes with a Java API that propose the following
make it easy to create indexes in a declarative way by simply Providing an XML configuration document.
make it easy to personalize the way Lucene must handle different kind of data sources.
provide services for index management and searching that can be accessed from several applications.
enable batch tasks scheduling.
Visual Basic Shell Programming ventures where none have gone before by showing how to develop shell extensions that more closely integrate an application with the Windows shell, while at the same time Providing an advanced tutorial-style treatment of COM programming with Visual Basic. Each major type of shell extension gets attention, including customized context menu handlers, per instance icons, and customized property sheets.
