This document was developed under the Standard Hardware and Reliability Program (SHARP) TechnologyIndependent REPRESENTATION of Electronic Products (TIREP) project. It is intended for use by VHSIC HardwareDescription Language (VHDL) design engineers and is offered as guidance for the development of VHDL modelswhich are compliant with the VHDL Data Item Description (DID DI-EGDS-80811) and which can be providedto manufacturing engineering personnel for the development of production data and the subsequent productionof hardware. Most VHDL modeling performed to date has been concentrated at either the component level orat the conceptual system level. The assembly and sub-assembly levels have been largely disregarded. Under theSHARP TIREP project, an attempt has been made to help close this gap. The TIREP models are based upon lowcomplexity Standard Electronic Modules (SEM) of the format A configuration. Although these modules are quitesimple, it is felt that the lessons learned offer guidance which can readily be applied to a wide range of assemblytypes and complexities.

DIGITAL IMAGERY is pervasive in our world today. Consequently,

from the ongoing work of the Joint Photographic Experts
Group (JPEG). This group operates under the auspices of Joint
Technical Committee 1, Subcommittee 29, Working Group 1

Organization for Standardization (ISO) and International
Telecommunication Union Standardization Sector (ITUT).
Both the JPEG [1–3] and JPEG-LS [4–6] standards were
born from the work of the JPEG committee. For the last few
years, the JPEG committee has been working towards the establishment
of a new standard known as JPEG 2000 (i.e., ISO/IEC
15444). The fruits of these labors are now coming to bear, as
JPEG-2000 Part 1 (i.e., ISO/IEC 15444-1 [7]) has recently been
approved as a new international standard.

Two functions, num2bin and bin2num are provided. num2bin takes a double and converts it to a binary string REPRESENTATION. bin2num is its inverse operation. It can be used in a numerical analysis course when floating point arithmetic is discussed.

Given a subject graph and a set of pattern graph in canonical REPRESENTATION (2-input
NAND and INV), implement the second step of DAGON approach. (Both the subject
graph and the pattern graphs are trees.)
In this paper, we consider the problem of filtering in relational
hidden Markov models. We present a compact REPRESENTATION for
such models and an associated logical particle filtering algorithm. Each
particle contains a logical formula that describes a set of states. The
algorithm updates the formulae as new observations are received. Since
a single particle tracks many states, this filter can be more accurate
than a traditional particle filter in high dimensional state spaces, as we
demonstrate in experiments.
