The major functionality added in this release includes:
- Rootless mode in X11
- Widget Templtes [both compiled and XML]
As always, this isn t meant to be a stable release, it is only provided so
people can more easily experiment with PicoGUI and possibly help in its
development.
Some of the more significant known bugs:
- The PicoGUI laucher may not work right now, it s undergoing some change.
- Several of the apps included here are not finished, not started, or
otherwise broken.
- There is a redrawing bug that may cause flickering on some platforms
The Window Design Method
The basic idea behind the design of linear-phase FIR filters using the window
method is to choose a proper ideal frequency-selective filter [which always has
a noncausal, infinite duration impulse response] and then truncate its impulse
response hd[n] to obtain a linear-phase and causal FIR filter h[n]. To truncate the
impulse response of the ideal filter a time window w[n] is used. Available windows
in Matlab are rectangular [or boxcar in Matlab], bartlett, hamming, hanning
Netcat for NT is the tcp/ip "Swiss Army knife" that never made it into any
of the resource kits. It has proved to be an extremely versatile tool on
the unix platform. So why should NT always be unix s poor cousin when it
comes to tcp/ip testing and exploration? I bet many NT admins out there
keep a unix box around to use tools such as Netcat or to test their systems
with the unix version of an NT vulnerability exploit. With Netcat for NT
part of that feeling disempowerment is over.
I ll probably write up a short article next week outlining how the ActionScript works, so people can modify it, and work with it more easily in Flex.
You can download the component and source code here. There are some instructions in the FLA on how to use it. Note that this is not a compiled component, so it won t show up in the components panel. You will have to copy the component, and the source file into your project. If anyone really wants a compiled version, let me know and I can provide one.
As always, I d love to hear how people use it, and would appreciate it if you would post back to the comments if you make any significant modifications so that other people can benefit from them.
That s how the temperature monitor/controller came to be.
It was an obvious task for a small processor and I ve always wanted to test the Dallas temperature sensors.
The objective is to set up SPI communication between VTI Technologies digital pressure sensor
component and an MCU of an application device ATMEGA16L. In this code example:
?The MCU is configured
?SCP1000-D01 is initialized and configured
?The high resolution measurement mode is activated
?Temperature and pressure information is read always when the DRDY pin is in high state
Please refer to the document "SCP1000 Product Family Specification 8260800" for further
information on SCP1000 register addressing and SPI communication. This document applies to the
SCP1000-D01.
Regardless of the branch of science or engineering, theoreticians have always
been enamored with the notion of expressing their results in the form of
closed-form expressions. Quite often, the elegance of the closed-form solution
is overshadowed by the complexity of its form and the difficulty in evaluating
it numerically. In such instances, one becomes motivated to search instead for
a solution that is simple in form and simple to evaluate.

Wireless communications is rapidly becoming one of the ubiquitous technological
underpinnings of modern society (such as electric power, fossil fuels, automobiles,
etc.).Fewpeoplethinkaboutthetechnologywithintheirmobilephones,remotecontrols,
garage door openers, GPS navigation devices, and so on. They are always at hand and
reliably work for the user.
Quality of Service ( QoS ) has always been in a world of its own, but as the technology
has been refi ned and has evolved in recent years, QOS usage has increased to the point
where it is now considered a necessary part of network design and operation. As with
most technologies, large - scale deployments have led to the technology becoming more
mature, and QOS is no exception.
