As science advances, novel experiments are becoming more and more complex, requiring a zoo of control devices and electronics executing complicated sequences of steps. Device availability and monetary constrains usually lead to a highly heterogeneous setup with components from several different manufacturers using many different protocols and interfacing mechanisms. This often results in control software being puzzled together to use and provide a multitude of interfacing and control functionality, each using their own calling conventions, data structures, etc. To make matters worse, usually a group of relatively independent programmers is trying to write and maintain the code base. Often this causes extensive duplication of effort as program segments are hard to reuse, since unpredictable changes to the segments by the original authors might compromise other code using these segments.
The MAX4968/MAX4968A are 16-channel, high-linearity,high-voltage, bidirectional SPST analog switches with18I (typ) on-resistance. The devices are ideal for use inapplications requiring high-voltage switching controlledby a low-voltage control signal, such as ultrasound imagingand printers. The MAX4968A provides integrated40kI (typ) bleed resistors on each switch terminal todischarge capacitive loads. Using HVCMOS technology,these switches combine high-voltage bilateral MOSswitches and low-power CMOS logic to provide efficientcontrol of high-voltage analog signals.

Due totheir high efficiency, the devices significantly reduce the size of the heatsink and, in many cases, no heatsink isrequired. Optimized for use with standard series of inductors available from several different manufacturers, theTL2575 and TL2575HV greatly simplify the design of switch-mode power supplies by requiring a minimaladdition of only four to six external components for operation.
The P90CL301 is a highly integrated 16/32 bit micro-controller especially suitable for applications requiring lowvoltage and low power consumption. It is fully software compatible with the 68000. Furthermore, it provides bothstandard as well as advanced peripheral functions on-chip.One of these peripheral functions is the I2C bus. This report describes worked-out driver software (written in C) toprogram the P90CL301 I2C interface. It also contains interface software routines offering the user a quick start inwriting a complete I2C system application.
