The Software Engineering Institute’s (SEI) Capability Maturity Model (CMM) provides a well-known benchmark of software process maturity. The CMM has become a popular vehicle for assessing the maturity of an organization’s software process in many domains. This white paper describes how the Rational unified Process can support an organization that is trying to achieve CMM Level-2, Repeatable, and Level-3, Defined, software process maturity levels.

cordic methods describe essentially the same algorithm that with suitably chosen inputs can be used to calculate a whole range of scientific functions including sin, cos, tan, arctan, arcsin, arccos, sinh, cosh, tanh, arctanh, log, exp, square root and even multiply and divide. the method dates back to volder [1959], and due to its versatility and compactness, it made possible the microcoding of the hp35 pocket scientific calculator in 1972. here is some code to illustrate the techniques. ive split the methods into three parts linear, circular and hyperbolic. in the hp35 microcode these would be unified into one function (for space reasons). because the linear mode can perform multiply and divide, you only need add/subtract and shift to complete the implementation. you can select in the code whether to do the multiples and divides also by cordic means. other multiplies and divides are all powers of 2 (these dont count). to eliminate these too, would involve ieee hackery.

The paper describes the concept and realization of the DOOCS control software for FPGAbased TESLA cavity controller and simulator (SIMCON). It bases on universal software components, created for laboratory purposes and used in MATLAB based control environment. These modules have been recently adapted to the DOOCS environment to ensure a unified software to hardware communication model. The presented solution can be also used as a general platform for control algorithms development. The proposed interfaces between MATLAB and DOOCS modules allow to check the developed algorithm in the operation environment before implementation in the FPGA. This Symbian C++ code example demonstrates how to easily use the onboard camera with zoom and autofocus, utilising an accompanying CameraWrapper made by Forum Nokia. The Camera Wrapper supports all Nokia s S60 devices based on S60 3rd Edition and newer, providing a unified interface for various Symbian and S60 camera APIs some of which have previously been Feature Pack specific or only available via an SDK plug-in. The example application supports the use of both the keypad and touch UI. The application can be self-signed, but it also provides an option to use the dedicated camera key (Symbian signing required). The example application replaces the separate examples published for S60 3rd Edition, FP1 (S60 Platform: Camera Example with AutoFocus Support v2.2) and FP2 (S60 Camera Example AutoFocus 3rd Ed FP2).
