Third Generation (3G) mobile offers access to broadband multimedia services - and in the future most of these, even voice and video, will be IP-based. However 3G networks are not based on IP technologies, rather they are an EVOLUTION from existing 2G networks. Much work needs to be done to IP QoS and mobility protocols and architectures for them to be able to provide the functionality 3G requires.
This a very simple baseband simulator for SC-FDMA system. This simulator is part of the upcoming book “Single Carrier FDMA: A New Air Interface for Long Term EVOLUTION” (Wiley, Nov. 2008) which I co-authored with professor David J. Goodman at Polytechnic University.
The purpose of this simulator is to give some concrete idea of how SC-FDMA system works. It does lack many realistic and sophisticated features such as channel coding, time-varying fading channel model, soft decision decoding, etc. Regardless, I am hoping that it will help you understand SC-FDMA which is a fairly new development in 3GPP LTE.
In this paper, we describe the development of a rapidly reconfigurable system in which the users’ tacit knowledge and requirements are
elicited via a process of Interactive EVOLUTION, finding the image processing parameters to achieve the required goals without any need for
specialised knowledge of the machine vision system. We show that the resulting segmentation can be quickly and easily evolved from
scratch, and achieves detection rates comparable to those of a hand-tuned system on a hot-rolled steel defect recognition problem.
