This the third edition of the Writing Device Drivers articles. The first article helped to simply get you acquainted with device drivers and a simple framework for developing a device driver for NT. The second tutorial attempted to show to use IOCTLs and display what the memory layout of Windows NT is. In this edition, we will go into the IDEA of contexts and pools. The driver we write today will also be a little more interesting as it will allow two user mode applications to communicate with each other in a simple manner. We will call this the “poor man’s pipes” implementation.
Introduction
Some times it is required that we build a shared library (DLL) from an m-file. M-files are functions that are written in Matlab editor and can be used from Matlab command prompt. In m-files, we employ Matlab built-in functions or toolbox functions to compute something. In my past articles, I showed you some ways to use Matlab engine (vis. API, C++ class or Matlab engine API) for employing Matlab built-in functions, but what about functions that we develop? How can we use them in VC? Is there any interface? This article shows you an IDEA to employ your own Matlab functions.
Boosting is a meta-learning approach that aims at combining an ensemble of weak classifiers to form a strong classifier. Adaptive Boosting (Adaboost) implements this IDEA as a greedy search for a linear combination of classifiers by overweighting the examples that are misclassified by each classifier. icsiboost implements Adaboost over stumps (one-level decision trees) on discrete and continuous attributes (words and real values). Our implementation is aimed at allowing training from millions of examples by hundreds of features in a reasonable time/memory.
Foreword
The four case studies that follow each have a number of common features. They each illustrate the birth of an IDEA and show how that IDEA can be realised into a marketable product. Each case study deals with engineering design and development issues and each highlights the importance of developing sound marketing strategies including market research. The importance of appropriate support mechanisms for young entrepreneurs is also covered. The case studies illustrate how successful entrepreneurs deploy a range of entrepreneurial skills and know-how. Above all, the entrepreneurs are seen to have the capacity to innovate and exercise vision.

This project allows you to learn communication systems in greater depth. It contains the Simulink files (*.mdl) which are block design files of various communication systems such as AM, DSB-SC, FM, PLL, Data Acquisition, Digital Data Transmission, PCM and Delta Modulation.
The IDEA here is to implement experiments of a traditional communication lab using Simulink.

This a very simple baseband simulator for SC-FDMA system. This simulator is part of the upcoming book “Single Carrier FDMA: A New Air Interface for Long Term Evolution” (Wiley, Nov. 2008) which I co-authored with professor David J. Goodman at Polytechnic University.
The purpose of this simulator is to give some concrete IDEA of how SC-FDMA system works. It does lack many realistic and sophisticated features such as channel coding, time-varying fading channel model, soft decision decoding, etc. Regardless, I am hoping that it will help you understand SC-FDMA which is a fairly new development in 3GPP LTE.
