In this new edition of the book, only minor changes were made to the original nine chapters but three new chapters treat topics of increasing interest to GPS users and equipment developers. One topic, improving the GPS receiver sensi- tivity may extend their operations into buildings, which is becoming IMPortant for emergency rescue and urban warfare.

Since OpenStreetMap (OSM) appeared more than ten years ago, new collaborative mapping approaches have emerged in different areas and have become IMPortant components of localised information and services based on localisation. There is now increased awareness of the importance of the space-time attributes of almost every event and phenomenon. Citizens now have endless possibilities to quickly geographically locate themselves with an accuracy previously thought impossible. Based on these societal drivers, we proposed a number of collaborative mapping experiments (“mapping parties”) to delegates of a large open-source geospatial conference and to citizens of the conference’s host city during July 2015.

There exist two essentially different approaches to the study of dynamical systems, based on the following distinction: time-continuous nonlinear differential equations ? time-discrete maps One approach starts from time-continuous differential equations and leads to time-discrete maps, which are obtained from them by a suitable discretization of time. This path is pursued, e.g., in the book by Strogatz [Str94]. 1 The other approach starts from the study of time-discrete maps and then gradually builds up to time-continuous differential equations, see, e.g., [Ott93, All97, Dev89, Has03, Rob95]. After a short motivation in terms of nonlinear differential equations, for the rest of this course we shall follow the latter route to dynamical systems theory. This allows a generally more simple way of introducing the IMPortant concepts, which can usually be carried over to a more complex and physically realistic context.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has undoubtedly been one of the most IMPortant buz- zwords over the past years. The goal in AI is to design algorithms that transform com- puters into “intelligent” agents. By intelligence here we do not necessarily mean an extraordinary level of smartness shown by superhuman; it rather often involves very basic problems that humans solve very frequently in their day-to-day life. This can be as simple as recognizing faces in an image, driving a car, playing a board game, or reading (and understanding) an article in a newspaper. The intelligent behaviour ex- hibited by humans when “reading” is one of the main goals for a subfield of AI called Natural Language Processing (NLP). Natural language 1 is one of the most complex tools used by humans for a wide range of reasons, for instance to communicate with others, to express thoughts, feelings and ideas, to ask questions, or to give instruc- tions. Therefore, it is crucial for computers to possess the ability to use the same tool in order to effectively interact with humans.

Computer science as an academic discipline began in the 1960’s. Emphasis was on programming languages, compilers, operating systems, and the mathematical theory that supported these areas. Courses in theoretical computer science covered finite automata, regular expressions, context-free languages, and computability. In the 1970’s, the study of algorithms was added as an IMPortant component of theory. The emphasis was on making computers useful. Today, a fundamental change is taking place and the focus is more on a wealth of applications. There are many reasons for this change. 溫度控制如今已成為當(dāng)代社會研究的熱點之一,而溫度檢測在現(xiàn)代設(shè)備參數(shù)檢測中也是一項極其重要的技術(shù),應(yīng)用十分廣泛。與傳統(tǒng)的測溫方法相比,紅外測溫方法具有時間短、精度高、使用簡單方便等優(yōu)點。本文以環(huán)境溫度為被測對象,設(shè)計了以STC89C52單片機為控制中心的紅外測溫裝置,能夠?qū)崿F(xiàn)對目標溫度的實時采集、處理、顯示和報警等功能。本設(shè)計主要是由STC89C52單片機、紅外測溫傳感器、LCD1602液晶顯示器、按鍵和蜂鳴器等部分組成,采用非接觸的方式對目標溫度進行實時檢測。Temperature control has become one of the hotspots in contemporary social research,and temperature detection is an extremely IMPortant technology in modern equipment parameter detection.Compared with traditional method,the infrared temperature measuring method has advantages of short time,high precision and convenient operation,etc.This paper consider environment temperature as research objects and designs an infrared temperature measuring device which employs the STC89C52singlechipas-control center,and it can realize timely collection,processing,display and alarm function of the target temperature.The design is mainly composed of STC89C52 singlechip,infrared temperature sensor,LCD1602monitor,keys and buzzer,etc.This design detects the target temperature by non-contact method.
