In 揚(yáng)erformance of multi-Carrier DS CDMA Systems?we apply a multi-Carrier signaling technique to a direct-sequence CDMA system, where a data sequence multiplied by a spreading sequence modulates multiple carriers, rather than a single carrier. The receiver provides a correlator for each carrier, and the outputs of the correlators are combined with a maximal-ratio combiner. This type of signaling has the desirable properties of exhibiting a narrowband interference suppression effect, along with robustness to fading, without requiring the use of either an explicit RAKE structure or an interference suppression filter.

OFDM(正交頻分復(fù)用)技術(shù)實(shí)際上是MCM(multi-Carrier Modulation，多載波調(diào)制)的一種。其主要思想是，將信道分成若干正交子信道，將高速數(shù)據(jù)信號(hào)轉(zhuǎn)換成并行的低速子數(shù)據(jù)流，調(diào)制到在每個(gè)子信道上進(jìn)行傳輸。正交信號(hào)可以通過(guò)在接收端采用相關(guān)技術(shù)來(lái)分開(kāi)，這樣可以減少子信道之間的相互干擾(ICI)。每個(gè)子信道上的信號(hào)帶寬小于信道的相關(guān)帶寬，因此每個(gè)子信道上的可以看成平坦性衰落，從而可以消除符號(hào)間干擾。而且由于每個(gè)子信道的帶寬僅僅是原信道帶寬的一小部分，信道均衡變得相對(duì)容

Since the principle of multi-Carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) was simultaneously proposed by Khaled Fazel et al. and Nathan Yee et al. at the IEEE International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications (PIMRC) in the year 1993, multi-Carrier spread spectrum (MC-SS) has rapidly become one of the most wide spread independent research topics on the field of mobile radio communications. Therefore, the International Workshop on multi-Carrier Spread Spectrum (MC-SS) was initiated in the year 1997. multi-Carrier and spread spectrum systems with their generic air interface and adaptive technologies are considered as potential candidates to fulfill the requirements of next generation mobile communications systems.

This paper investigates the design of joint frequency offset and carrier phase estimation of a multi-frequency time division multiple access (MF-TDMA) demodulator that is applied to a digital video broadcasting—return channel system via satellite (DVB-RCS). The proposed joint estimation algorithm is based on the interpolation technique for two correlation values in the frequency and phase domains. This simple interpolation technique can significantly improve frequency and phase resolution capabilities of the proposed technique without increasing the number of the correlation values. In addition, the overall block diagram of a digital communications receiver for DVB-RCS is presented, which was designed using the proposed estimation algorithms. Index Terms—Carrier phase estimation, DVB-RCS, frequency offset estimation, interpolation, joint estimation, MF-TDMA.
