Foreword
The four case studies that follow each have a number of common features. They each illustrate the birth of an idea and show how that idea can be realised into a marketable product. Each case study deals with engineering design and development issues and each highlights the importance of developing sound marketing strategies including market research. The importance of appropriate support mechanisms for young entrepreneurs is also covered. The case studies illustrate how successful entrepreneurs deploy a range of entrepreneurial skills and know-how. Above all, the entrepreneurs are seen to have the capacity to innovate and exercise vision.
We are grateful to Liz Read, Development Manager for Enterprise and Entrepreneurship (Students) at Coventry University for providing these case studies.
PlotSphereIntensity(azimuth, elevation)
PlotSphereIntensity(azimuth, elevation, intensity)
h = PlotSphereIntensity(...)
Plots the intensity (as color) of a number of points on a unit sphere.
Input:
azimuth (phi), in degrees
elevation (theta), in degrees
intensity (optional, if not provided, a green sphere is produced)
All inputs must be vectors or matrices of the same size. Data does not have to be evenly spaced. When there aren t enough points to draw a smooth sphere, additional points (with color) are interpolated.
Output:
h - a handle to the patch object
The axes are also plotted:
positive x axis is red
positive y axis is green
positive z axis is blue
* Explains process algebra and protocol specification using µ CRL, a language developed to combine process algebra and abstract data types
* Text is supported throughout with examples and exercises
* Full solutions are provided in an appendix, while exercise sheets, lab exercises, example specifications and lecturer slides are available on the author s website
A framework written in Java for implementing high-level and dynamic languages, compiling them into Java bytecodes.
An implementation of Scheme, which is in the Lisp family of programming languages. Kawa is a featureful dialect in its own right, and additionally provides very useful integration with Java. It can be used as a “scripting language”, but includes a compiler and all the benefits of a “real” programming language, including optional static typing.
The package contains a Reed-Solomon coding and decoding program, derived
partly from Phil Karn/Robert Morelos-Zaragoza "new_rs_erasures.c".
In particular the Berlekamp-Massey algorithm has not been modified. New
features compared to "new_rs_erasures.c" are:
- fully parameterized: code parameters (n,k,m) can be selected via
command line options.
- decoding optional by Euclid or Belekamp-Massey algorithm
- efficient support of shortened codes
- extensive verbose levels for hardware verification
December 19, 2006 - Ant 1.7.0 Available
Apache Ant 1.7.0 is now available for download.
Ant 1.7 introduces a resource framework. Some of the core ant tasks such as <copy/> are now able to process not only file system resources but also zip entries, tar entries, paths, ... Resource collections group resources, and can be further combined with operators such as union and intersection. This can be extended by custom resources and custom tasks using resources.
Ant 1.7 starts outsourcing of optional tasks to Antlibs. The .NET antlib in preparation will replace the .NET optional tasks which ship in Ant. Support for the version control system Subversion will be only provided as an antlib to be released shortly.
Ant 1.7 fixes also a large number of bugs.
Ant 1.7 has some initial support for Java6 features.

learning English The following appeared in a memorandum written by the vice president of Nature s Way, a chain of stores selling health food and other health-related products. "Previous experience has shown that our stores are most profitable in areas where residents are highly concerned with leading healthy lives. We should therefore build our next new store in Plainsville, which has many such residents. Plainsville merchants report that sales of running shoes and exercise clothing are at all-time highs. The local health club, which nearly closed five years ago due to lack of business, has more members than ever, and the weight training and aerobics classes are always full. We can even anticipate a new generation of customers: Plainsville s schoolchildren are required to participate in a fitness for life program, which emphasizes the benefits of regular exercise at an early age.
