Spikes can be taken as absolute quantities of measuring values which are large than approximately four (expressed as variable [Times_SD] in the program)times of the standard deviation of the time series, and can be removed by repeating 3 times with each time series. When a measuring value with the deviation from the mean larger than four times of the standard deviation, the variable can be taken as NO_VALUE, and the number of spikes is saved into the variable [SpikeNum]. If the variable [Times_SD] is taken as four, many records will be removed, so the variable [Times_SD] can be taken as larger, for example eight.

This application report describes the use of Timer_A3 to decode RC5 and SIRC TV IR remote control signals. The decoder described in this report is interrupt-driven and operates a background function using specific features the Timer_A3. Only a small portion of the MSP430 CPU?s nonreal-time resources is used. Specific hardware bit-latching capabilities of the Timer_A3 module are used for real-time decoding of the IR data signal, independent and asynchronous to the CPU. CPU activity and power consumption are kept to an absolute minimum level. The Timer_A3 decoder implementation also allows other tasks to occur simultaneously if required. This paper investigates the design of joint frequency offset and carrier phase estimation of a multi-frequency time division multiple access (MF-TDMA) demodulator that is applied to a digital video broadcasting—return channel system via satellite (DVB-RCS). The proposed joint estimation algorithm is based on the interpolation technique for two correlation values in the frequency and phase domains. This simple interpolation technique can significantly improve frequency and phase resolution capabilities of the proposed technique without increasing the number of the correlation values. In addition, the overall block diagram of a digital communications receiver for DVB-RCS is presented, which was designed using the proposed estimation algorithms. In this article, we present an overview of methods for sequential simulation from posterior distributions. These methods are of particular interest in Bayesian filtering for discrete time dynamic models that are typically nonlinear and non-Gaussian. A general importance sampling framework is developed that unifies many of the methods which have been proposed over the last few decades in several different scientific disciplines. Novel extensions to the existing methods are also proposed.We showin particular how to incorporate local linearisation methods similar to those which have previously been employed in the deterministic filtering literature these lead to very effective importance distributions. Furthermore we describe a method which uses Rao-Blackwellisation in order to take advantage of the analytic structure present in some important classes of state-space models. In a final section we develop algorithms for prediction, smoothing and evaluation of the likelihood in dynamic models.

We present a particle filter construction for a system that exhibits time-scale separation. The separation of time-scales allows two simplifications that we exploit: i) The use of the averaging principle for the dimensional reduction of the system needed to solve for each particle and ii) the factorization of the transition probability which allows the Rao-Blackwellization of the filtering step. Both simplifications can be implemented using the coarse projective integration framework. The resulting particle filter is faster and has smaller variance than the particle filter based on the original system. The convergence of the new particle filter to the analytical filter for the original system is proved and some numerical results are provided.
