    Sequential Monte Carlo without Likelihoods 粒子濾波不用似然函數的情況下 本文摘要:Recent new methods in Bayesian simulation have provided ways of evaluating posterior distributions in the presence of analytically or computationally intractable likelihood functions. Despite representing a substantial methodological advance, existing methods based on rejection sampling or Markov chain Monte Carlo can be highly inefficient, and accordingly require far more iterations than may be practical to implement. Here we propose a sequential Monte Carlo sampler that convincingly overcomes these inefficiencies. We DEMONSTRATE its implementation through an epidemiological study of the transmission rate of tuberculosis.

    This approach addresses two difficulties simultaneously: 1) the range limitation of mobile robot sensors and 2) the difficulty of detecting buildings in monocular aerial images. With the suggested method building outlines can be detected faster than the mobile robot can explore the area by itself, giving the robot an ability to “see” around corners. At the same time, the approach can compensate for the absence of elevation data in segmentation of aerial images. Our experiments DEMONSTRATE that ground-level semantic information (wall estimates) allows to focus the segmentation of the aerial image to find buildings and produce a ground-level semantic map that covers a larger area than can be built using the onboard sensors.

    We analyze, both analytically and numerically, the effectiveness of cloaking an infinite cylinder from observations by electromagnetic waves in three dimensions. We show that, as truncated approximations of the ideal permittivity and permeability tensors tend towards the singular ideal cloaking fields, so that the anisotropy ratio tends to infinity, the D and B fields blow up near the cloaking surface. Since the metamaterials used to implement cloaking are based on effective medium theory, the resulting large variation in D and B will pose a challenge to the suitability of the field averaged characterization of " and 碌. We also consider cloaking with and without the SHS (softand- hard surface) lining, shown in [6] to be theoretically necessary for cloaking in the cylindrical geometry. We DEMONSTRATE numerically that cloaking is significantly improved by the SHS lining, with both the far field of the scattered wave significantly reduced and the blow up of D and B prevented.

    In an electromagnetic cloak based on a transformation approach, reduced sets of material properties are generally favored due to their easier implementation in reality, although a seemingly inevitable drawback of undesired reflection exists in such cloaks. Here we suggest using high-order transformations to create smooth moduli at the outer boundary of the cloak, therefore completely eliminating the detrimental scattering within the limit of geometric optics. We apply this scheme to a non-magnetic cylindrical cloak and DEMONSTRATE that the scattered field is reduced substantially in a cloak with optimal quadratic transformation as compared to its linear counterpart.

    The existence of numerous imaging modalities makes it possible to present different data present in different modalities together thus forming multimodal images. Component images forming multimodal images should be aligned, or registered so that all the data, coming from the different modalities, are displayed in proper locations. The term image registration is most commonly used to denote the process of alignment of images , that is of transforming them to the common coordinate system. This is done by optimizing a similarity measure between the two images. A widely used measure is Mutual Information (MI). This method requires estimating joint histogram of the two images. Experiments are presented that DEMONSTRATE the approach. The technique is intensity-based rather than feature-based. As a comparative assessment the performance based on normalized mutual information and cross correlation as metric have also been presented.
