  • Wireless Networking Technology

Although the origins of radio frequency based wireless networking can be traced back to the University of Hawaii’s ALOHANET research project in the 1970s, the key events that led to wireless networking becoming one of the fastest growing technologies of the early 21st century have been the ratification of the IEEE 802.11 standard in 1997, and the subsequent development of interoperability certification by the Wi-Fi Alliance (formerly WECA).

  • Wireless Receiver Architectures and Design

The advent of modern wireless devices, such as smart phones and MID 1 terminals, has revolutionized the way people think of personal connectivity. Such devices encompass multiple applications ranging from voice and video to high-speed data transfer via wireless networks. The voracious appetite of twenty-first century users for supporting more wireless applications on a single device is ever increasing. These devices employ multiple radios and modems that cover multiple frequency bands and multiple standards with a manifold of wireless applications often running simultaneously.

  • frequency+Tunable+MEMS

For more than three decades, Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS) have steadily transitioned out of research labs and into production forming a more than $10 billion market [1]. MEMS devices such as accelerometers, pressure sensors and microphones, to name a few, have seen immense utilization, particularly in the consumer electronics market, because of their compact sizes and minute power consumptions. In addition, these devices benefit from batch fabrication, which has enabled year-over-year reductions in cost [2]. In recent years,

  • Electric+Vehicles+on+Power+System

With the rapid development of electric vehicles (EVs) as well as the promotion and application of vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technologies, EVs charging loads, as flexible loads, have the potential to participate in the grid services, including peak shaving and valley filling, frequency regulation (FR), emergency power, energy market participation, and so on. Therefore, great attention has been paid to EVs and V2G. Focusing on the interactions between EVs and power system, this book aims to bring readers with basic knowledge of electrical engineering promptly to the frontier of the EVs’ influence on power system and environment. This book may serve as a reference for scientists, electrical engineers, and postgraduate students majoring in electrical engineering or other related fields.

  • GaN-on-Si+Displace+Si+and+SiC

GaN is an already well implanted semiconductor technology, widely diffused in the LED optoelectronics industry. For about 10 years, GaN devices have also been developed for RF wireless applications where they can replace Silicon transistors in some selected systems. That incursion in the RF field has open the door to the power switching capability in the lower frequency range and thus to the power electronic applications. Compared to Silicon, GaN exhibits largely better figures for most of the key specifications: Electric field, energy gap, electron mobility and melting point. Intrinsically, GaN could offer better performance than Silicon in terms of: breakdown voltage, switching frequency and Overall systems efficiency.

  • Chipless_Radio_frequency_Identification

Introduction to Radio frequency Identification (RFID): RFID is a wireless modulation and demodulation technique for automatic identification of objects, tracking goods, smart logistics, and access con- trol. RFID is a contactless, usually short‐distance transmission and reception technique for unique ID data transfer from a tagged object to an interrogator (reader). The generic configuration of an RFID system comprises (i) an ID data‐carrying tag, (ii) a reader, (iii) a middleware, and (iv) an enterprise application.

  • ForDummies_RFID_For_Dummies

With all the recent hype over radio frequency identification (RFID) and the requirements to implement it, you might think that RFID can turn water into wine, transform lead into gold, and cure the world’s diseases. You might also be worried that RFID will enable Big Brother to track your move- ments to within a foot of your location from a satellite five hundred miles up in space. The truth is, RFID can do none of these things. In this chapter, you find out the basics of what RFID is, what forces are dri- ving RFID as a replacement for the bar code in the marketplace, and what benefits RFID can offer

  • Multiresonator-Based+Chipless+RFID

Radio frequency identifi cation (RFID) is a modern wireless data transmission and reception technique for applications including automatic identifi cation, asset track- ing and security surveillance. As barcodes and other means of identifi cation and asset tracking are inadequate for recent demands, RFID technology has attracted interest for applications such as logistics, supply chain management, asset tracking and security access control.

  • RFID AND SENSOR NETWORKS Architectures

Radio frequency identification (RFID) technology is witnessing a recent explosion of development in both industry and academia. A number of applications include supply chain management, electronic payments, RFID passports, environmental monitoring and control, office access control, intelligent labels, target detection and tracking, port management, food production control, animal identification, and so on. RFID is also an indispensable foundation to realize the pervasive computing paradigm—“Internet of things.” It is strongly believed that many more scenarios will be identified when the principles of RFID are thoroughly understood, cheap components available, and when RFID security is guaranteed.
